Amazon Brand Analytics (Search Query Performance): Available to Brand Registry members, this report shows your click share and purchase share for specific search terms compared to the top three ASINs in the category. This is native Amazon data — not an estimate — and it is one of the most valuable ranking-adjacent metrics available. High search query volume with low click share indicates a ranking or creative problem. Low search query volume with high click share indicates you are doing well on a small opportunity.
What Metrics to Track Alongside Keyword Position
Raw keyword position tells you where you are. The surrounding metrics tell you why and what to do about it. Track these alongside your keyword rank data:
- Organic rank vs. sponsored rank: Track your organic position and sponsored position separately. A product that only appears in the top 10 because you are running heavy PPC is not actually ranking organically — and when you pull ad spend, you will see rank drop immediately. True organic ranking is what you build toward.
- Best Seller Rank (BSR): Available in your listing's product detail section and in Sales Dashboard. BSR reflects your sales velocity relative to other products in the same category or subcategory. It updates hourly and is a useful proxy for your overall category momentum.
- Conversion rate: Available in Seller Central Business Reports under the Detail Page Sales and Traffic report. Segment by ASIN. If your ranking is holding but conversion rate is declining, that is a listing quality problem — image, copy, price, or review signal.
- Unit session percentage: The Amazon-reported conversion rate metric in Business Reports. This is sessions-to-orders, which is not identical to impressions-to-orders, but it is the closest proxy available through native tools.
- Sponsored ad position and impression share: In your Campaign Manager, monitor where your sponsored ads are appearing and what share of impressions you are capturing for priority keywords. Declining impression share for a target keyword often precedes organic rank decline.

- Keyword ranked 21–50: Still within reach organically with sustained effort. Confirm the keyword is prominently featured in your title and bullet points. Run broad and phrase match campaigns to capture related variations and build relevance signals.
- Keyword ranked below 50: Evaluate whether the organic ranking investment is justified by the keyword's search volume. For high-volume keywords, yes — commit to a longer-term PPC-supported ranking push. For lower-volume keywords, focus on conversion intent rather than rank position.
- Keywords declining in rank week-over-week: Do not ignore a steady decline. Investigate root cause immediately and intervene before the slide accelerates. Gradual declines are easier to reverse than sudden collapses.
